The “Value Creation Card Game/New Business Creation Experience Program” is an experiential business training program jointly developed by Wilson Learning and Project Design Inc. Participants are divided into fictional corporate teams to compete in creating new businesses and increasing their asset value.

We introduce an innovative talent development program where participants can learn essential perspectives and methodologies for business creation, as well as the most important mindset of “continuing to challenge value creation,” through intense communication during a half-day session.

This program helps solve common challenges faced by business creators!

  • -   I understand the need for new business, but I don't know how to proceed.
  • -   Although we're a new business division, we keep rehashing existing businesses.
  • -   I’ve never created a new business before, but my company expects me to, and I’m struggling.
  • -   The team atmosphere is stifling, engagement is low, and the environment isn't conducive to innovation.
  • -   There is no culture of support for challenges, and those who do try are worn out.

Three Mindsets for Embracing Challenges You Will Gain Through This Game Experience

  • 1. Learning by doing
    / Learning by doing
  • 2. Never giving up until success is achieved
    / Never give up
  • 3. Challenging oneself beyond boundaries
    / Beyond the border

Based on these mindsets, participants take on a “management perspective” that is often not experienced in daily work. By deepening communication and experiencing the flow of new business creation, from “planning” to “conceptualization” to “realization,” the team can share the mindset and behavior traits needed to be successful challengers.

Learn the Patterns of New Business Creation from Real, Up-to-Date Business Cases

It is a fact that most people assigned to new business divisions have never created a new business before. Even highly skilled members within a company may often find the world of new business unfamiliar.

This program incorporates real-life new business creation examples based on the latest business trends, such as ESG and AI, into the game’s scenarios, allowing players to simulate various new business patterns.

Our organization conducts training programs with the aim of deepening the ties between Japan and the oil-producing countries and serving as a bridge for mutual prosperity. As part of this, we conducted this program in English for future executive candidates of each national companies.
Each team was made up of members from various countries, and they experienced value creation and co-creation relationship building based on WILL.
They were originally aware of their own WILL, but the idea of having the entire organization support and accompany "individual WILL" seemed to be new and important to them. It was impressive to see them seriously discussing "innovation enablement."

The Game’s Impact on Nurturing Challengers The Game’s Impact on Nurturing Challengers

Experiencing business challenges in the safe environment of a “game” brings various effects to team members that are not achieved through ordinary training.

Reinforcing Communication Skills and Promoting Team Building

With remote work becoming common, communication within companies often stalls, and organizational cohesion suffers. This game emphasizes "collaboration" and "communication," where teamwork and even cooperation with competitors are essential. Participants will rediscover the importance of team building and collaboration across different departments and roles.

Understanding the Leadership Needed to Support Business Creation

Leadership for business creation differs from managing existing businesses, especially in that it focuses more on “supporting challenges” rather than “management.” Each team in this game must have a manager role, allowing participants to experience leadership from both the challenger and supporter perspectives.

Recognizing Obstacles to Innovation in Your Company

A significant portion of time in this game is dedicated to reflection sessions at the end. Participants analyze and evaluate their choices and actions during the game, identifying the factors behind their success or failure in value creation. This leads to important insights into the "reasons hindering innovation" within their own companies.

Fostering a Culture Where Personal Aspirations and Visions Drive Value Creation

Many companies that experience slow growth fail to leverage the unique ideas and visions of their employees, missing out on opportunities for change. One unique feature of this game is the inclusion of “WILL cards.” Based on the WILL card each participant receives, they set their own “aspirations” and “visions” and work towards realizing them.

Team Formation
  • -   The entire game setting is a market composed of various companies from multiple industries.
  • -   Participants are divided into corporate teams.
  • -   Each team conducts business activities, and the company that creates the most corporate value by the end wins.
Card Distribution
  • -   Each team is given “Resources” and “Funds” cards, which are used to execute the business outlined on the "Project" cards.
  • -   In addition, each individual receives a “WILL” card, which provides important hints for progressing through the game.
Game Start
  • -   Participants can execute both “Existing Project” and “New Project.”
  • -   Under the guidance of their manager, teams develop growth strategies.
  • -   Existing businesses can be executed by collecting the necessary resources and funds, ensuring a guaranteed return.
  • -   New businesses require a combination of two resource cards and an investment of 100 million yen to conceptualize. If unsuccessful, the 100 million yen is lost, but success brings significant future assets.
Negotiation with Other Teams
  • -   The cards given to each team initially are not sufficient for business activities.
  • -   Teams must engage in realistic negotiations with competitors, exchanging cards and funds to increase the value of their businesses.
  • -   Participants experience the principles of open innovation and co-create value by collaborating with other companies.
The Company with the Highest “Corporate Value” Wins!
  • -   Corporate value is determined by the total of “Current Funds” and “Future Assets.”
  • -   Current Funds are the sum of all fund cards held, and Future Assets are the social value of existing/new business cards, as indicated on the lower right corner.

Message from the Developer Message from the Developer

This game is based on the business research project "Cross-Boundary Leadership" and incorporates the practical knowledge of individuals who have successfully created socially valuable businesses within companies. Even those without experience in business creation can engage with and understand the essence of a creative organizational culture that continually evolves through challenges.
During periods of organizational transformation, teams will experience firsthand what obstacles stand in the way of innovation, what mindset and actions are necessary to overcome them. By reflecting on their game experience in the post-game reflection session, participants are encouraged to have meaningful discussions about what kind of future they envision and what kind of organization they aspire to become.
Many participants have shared that this program has helped spark new actions within their businesses. We believe that new value is born from individual ideas and visions, and that the potential for this lies within every person in a company.
It is our hope that this game will contribute to the creation of more organizations where human uniqueness and creativity can flourish.
